Sarah Kuehl
FOUNDER
Sarah wrote her college thesis on graffiti writers. She remains passionate about cities, teenagers, and art. She is very interested in the overlap of conceptual ideas with both social and physical realities.
Liz Einwiller
FOUNDER
Liz’s childhood was spent building structures in her mother’s garden. She loves plants, color, and popular culture. Her keen visual skills translate to an insatiable curiosity for exploring how to make things.
Gisela Steber
ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL
Gisela was trained as an architect in Germany. She now brings her wisdom and experience in structures to her landscape design work with both affection and enviable rigor. She's also an incredible but modest baker.
Whitney Stewart
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Driven by a fascination with form, function, and processes that change them over time, Whitney found landscape architecture through a background in the biological sciences plus a passion for ceramic arts. She still occasionally throws pots and fires kilns.
Chelsea DeWitt
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Chelsea is interested in design solutions that combine socio-ecological thinking with public space to improve the health and well-being of communities. Her love of landscapes isn't limited to terra firma, as you’ll likely find her diving or sea kayaking in her free time.
Lauren McClure
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Lauren is mindful of creating engaging inter-generational designs in public spaces and believes that the ability to play is an important component of urban life. She enjoys living in the Bay and taking advantage of the diversity of ecosystems and weather nearby.
Geo Mayne
ASSOCIATE
Geo is a creative innovator (and exuberant cyclist) with a fine arts background in printmaking and drawing. Their zest for new media and years of experience with arts-centered community building in Oakland informs the culturally sensitive, dynamic and sensorially rich landscapes they create.
Alex Broad
ASSOCIATE
Alex is an illustrator, wildlife enthusiast, and avid soccer fan. His background in conservation and years of nature interpretation work informs his drive to embed educational moments in his designs.
Junpei Asai
ASSOCIATE
Junpei is a hot spring hunter, passionate soccer player, and casual bonsaist. Having grown up in a hilly suburb in Japan, he is fascinated by landscapes that express a local way of living. His particular interest on unique communal water use/design led him travel across villages in Japan and the world.
Clare Al-Witri
ASSOCIATE
Clare worked as a gardener and studied ecology and sculpture before finding landscape architecture. Through design she aims to nurture more intimate and meaningful relationships between people and plants.
Claire Geneste
DESIGNER II
Claire’s background is in art history, public art programming, and the restaurant industry. While working as a cook she nurtured a long-held love for creating thing with her hands and bringing people together around the shared experience of a meal. These threads have informed her passion for landscape architecture, cultural history, and learning about the personal connections we have to the world around us.
Riley Jiang
DESIGNER
Riley's teenage years were filled with sketching and watercolor painting. Now, as a practicing landscape designer, her artistic eye is captivated by every detail, texture, and pattern—both in her drawings and in the physical world. With a background in Anthropology, Riley emphasizes the profound influence of cultural awareness and humanism in shaping the urban landscapes we inhabit.
Amber Menzies
STUDIO DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Amber studied art history and practiced residential garden design before arriving at EinwillerKuehl. Hailing from NYC, she is a lifelong admirer of urban open space and finds joy in discovering the wildlife, natural rhythms and green spaces that exist within the city. When not at work, she can often be found hiking in the East Bay hills with her family.
