Station House
Located next to the historic West Oakland Train Station, Station House consists of 171 townhomes interwoven with open space that includes a series of linked courtyards, streets, alleys, pedestrian pathways, and a pocket park. The project, bounded by 14th, Wood and 16th Streets and Frontage Road in West Oakland, was built on a brownfield site and achieves a density of approximately 29 units per acre. The landscape design provides shared social spaces for the residents in three community courtyards. The courtyards are connected to both private patios and the surrounding neighborhood through a unified design of open space and circulation. The planting design of the courtyards and pedestrian pathways visually links the site to existing successful planting in the West Oakland neighborhood and introduces a new character of low water, mostly native, greening.
